Diaries of Lucy H. Flake, 1894-1900.

Negative photostats of Lucy H. Flake's diary, kept regularly from August 1894 until January 1900. In her diary entries Lucy describes her daily life and activities in Snowflake, including interactions with her children and other family members, church leaders, her husband William, and members of Snowflake's Relief Society. Lucy also writes of her weariness of harsh weather, her loneliness, and her solace in religion, as well as more mundane daily chores (such as an 1896 entry: "I made a cheese...today, the first in six years"). She also marks the birthdays of her son Charles, who was killed by the desperado Will Mason in 1892; writes of the death of her husband's second wife, Prudence, in 1896; and includes a copy of an essay written by a friend to mark William Flake's release from prison on polygamy charges.

2 volumes, negative photostats.
